A TOWN opticians has invested more than £275,000 into its eye care and audiology facilities, boosting services for the local community.
Specsavers in Newtown has almost doubled its sight test rooms, from three to five, allowing 50 more people to access eye tests each week.
New equipment aims to help diagnose and manage common eye conditions, including a tonometer, which along with other tests, helps to spot any signs of glaucoma, and a fundus camera, which takes photos of the back of the eye to detect conditions such as macular degeneration and diabetic complications.
Residents can also get their hearing tested in the store’s first sound-proofed audiology room.
David Dunlop, the Broad Street store director, said: "We’ve been providing eye care services to our local community in the same location for nearly 13 years. It felt the right time to refurbish our facilities and introduce new equipment.
"We’re committed to providing the best possible care to all of our customers so have listened to their feedback and also installed air conditioning across the store."
The store has also invested in two new optometrists, with plans to further expand its eye care team as demand for services grows.
"Every day, we see just how important eye health is to our daily lives", said Mr Dunlop.
"I hope this refurb encourages even more people to visit the store and have regular sight and hearing checks."
