THE Welsh National Opera (WNO) Orchestra returns with an ever-popular Summer Opera Classics collection of unmissable classics at Newtown’s Hafren theatre next Friday, July 5.
WNO’s talented orchestral musicians are joined by conductor Harry Ogg and soloists soprano Joyce El-Khoury and baritone Jason Howard for this special concert.
The programme journeys through a wealth of operatic repertoire with works by Puccini, Dvořák and others, including pieces from Wagner’s 'Die Meistersingers', Verdi’s 'Il Trovatore', Tchaikovsky’s 'Eugene Onegin', Lehár’s 'The Merry Widow' and Mozart’s 'The Magic Flute' and 'Don Giovanni'.
It also enters the world of musical theatre, and feature delights from Rogers and Hammerstein’s 'South Pacific'.
With much-loved favourites and a few lesser-known gems, it’s a concert not to be missed. Tickets are £16.50 and concessions £15. Call the box office on 01686614555.
