The Mayor of Llanfyllin has thanked organisers, volunteers and visitors to the town's annual St Myllin's day celebrations.

Organisers say the event on Saturday, June 15, which is organised by Arts Connection in honour of the town’s patron saint, was even more successful than ever with a procession through the town, stalls, live music, food and drink.

St Myllin’s Churchyard was the scene of a riot of colour and music with more stalls, children’s activities and a drama staged by 'Masquerade' telling the story of plastic and its challenge to us all.

The Mayor of Llanfyllin, Cllr Simon Baynes, said:

“A big thank you to Arts Connection for organising a very successful St Myllin’s Day with such imagination and inclusivity for our community. Masquerade’s drama was very popular and we are grateful to all the stallholders, shops and pop-up providers of food and drink for making the town such a busy and welcoming place for visitors and residents alike.”

The day was rounded off with a very well attended concert in St Myllin’s Church, organised by the Friends of St Myllin’s Church, which featured the ever-popular Penybontfawr Male Voice Choir. Keith Blacker, Trustee of the Friends of St Myllin’s Church, said:

“A new departure in the evening was a concert in the Church given by the Penybontfawr Male Voice Choir. The large audience heard the choir at its best together with solos from Rhonwen Broom and Ifan Owen. We also had a delightful duet by Rhonwen and her daughter Jessica. The concert raised £800 towards the fund of the Friends of St Myllin’s Church.”
