A MAN smashed through a window after his wife of 24 years left him on Valentine’s Day, to uncover her suspected affair, a court heard.

Kevin James Jones, 54, of Llandewi, Llandrindod Wells, damaged the pane of glass alongside his son, Ashley James Jones, 22.

The pair appeared together at Llandrindod Wells Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, and admitted the offences which took place on Valentine’s Day, February 14.

Stephen Davies, prosecuting, told the court that this incident happened at two detached holiday cottages in Crossgates. He also said Jones’ wife was in the property, who Kevin Jones was married to for 24 years.

The pair believed she was inside and smashed the glass to gain access, the court heard.

Kevin Jones, defending himself, said: “My wife walked out on me, I didn’t know where she had gone”.

Jones told the court that he drove around looking for her, and found her car outside the property.

He believed she was having an affair with someone else, the court heard.

“His car was in the drive,” he said.

The father and son received the same sentence from magistrates: a financial penalty of £295, including a £180 fine.
