A 'read-in' took place at Welshpool Library last Saturday, June 15, to protest against plans to move the library into the town's museum.
Between 50 and 60 people attended the read-in, which was organised by the Save Welshpool Library and Museum campaign group.
Brain Timmis from the group said the event, which attracted people of all ages, was "very successful".
He said that there was a "tremendous turnout for a low key event".
"Many thanks to those who came, supported, organised, and helped publicise.
"Keep getting the message across to Powys County Council that they cannot turn Welshpool into the ghost town of Powys," he said.
Mr Timmis said: "A large number of Welshpool and Powys residents are disgusted with the way in which Powys County Council is treating the town."
