SCHOOL children in Castle Caereinion donned hard hats and high-vis jackets during a special visit to the village’s new housing development.

Castle Caereinion Church in Wales Primary School pupils learnt valuable lessons on site safety during a tour by contractors Williams Homes at the construction site located next to the school.

Sean Clarke, headteacher, said: “Our children all very much enjoyed their visit to the building site and have taken on valuable lessons on who does what on a site and the safety requirements. Our Class 1 pupils enjoyed it so much that they have taken the information into our own outdoor area sorting out who is site manager and who is in charge of each area of work.

“If there are any budding site workers out there, Castle School are now enrolling for September. Contact us on 01938 850275.”

The homes are being built by Mid Wales Housing and scheme contractors, Williams Homes, from Bala. There are six highly energy efficient family homes of two and three bedrooms, which will be available for rent to local people from the autumn.

Alex Dawson, of Mid Wales Housing, said it was “delighted” to have worked with the school.

“Mid-Wales Housing is committed to engaging with and supporting the local communities in which we operate and we were therefore delighted to have the opportunity to involve the local school in this way. We are proud of the homes that are being developed in the village which will not only provide quality affordable housing for local people but also support local employment and opportunities through the procurement of the scheme.
