THE Arches Rhayader Community Support celebrated Volunteers Week with a Volunteers’ Appreciation evening at the Lamb and Flag in Rhayader on Wednesday, June 5.

The event was an opportunity to get all of The Arches volunteers together to honour and celebrate their kindness and generosity.

There was entertainment from Del Ho-Sang and a light hearted quiz and a buffet.

Arches chief officer Pippa Boss thanked the assembled guests for the thousands of volunteer hours worked in the office, charity shop and the drivers and passenger assistants.

“We are only able to provide such a wide range of quality services to the people of Rhayader with the support of our many volunteers. The volunteer evening gives us a chance to show how grateful we are to everyone of them,” said Pippa.

Del Ho-Sang received a special award for being the longest serving and hardest working volunteer who will try her hand at anything.

Mary Bufton was presented with the ‘Flying Start’ award as a new shop volunteer, by office and shop manager Natalie Vane.

Viv Hutchings received the ‘Charm the Birds out of the Trees’ award for friendliness and charm in the shop, from Arches wellbeing co-ordinator Lynda Birch.
