A crowd funding campaign has been launched to raise money to extend Meifod Village Hall.
It is a hall widely used in community for groups such as the Women’s Institute, the Young Farmers Club, Local History and Forget Me Not, and for fundraising events.
A fundraising target of £1,000 has been set which will help towards building improvements. Part of the money raised will be going to Cancer Research UK.
“Our rural village hall is widely used and offers something for everyone, it is a place to meet to catch up with friends,” said Carol Owen of Meifod Recreation Association.
“Like others, we no longer receive funding from the local authority. Our hire fees are set to encourage as many organisations as possible to use the hall. Being proactive and looking towards the future, plans have been approved to improve facilities and enhance a meeting room.
She added: “This will provide additional opportunities for residents, local small businesses and visitors alike to participate in formal and informal meetings, recreational activities improving their wellbeing and providing an income to maintain the hall for the future.”
