Roads around Oswestry and its surrounding areas have been affected by the heavy rains over the last 48 hours.

Flood warnings are in place still for around the rivers Severn and Vyrnwy, with the road from Maesbrook to Melverley flooded and potentially rising after Wednesday morning's early rain, while there are 45 flood alerts.

One passer-by told the Advertizer that he expected the water to rise with the rains and more coming off the Welsh hills.

Both rivers have burst their banks in a number of areas, including on the cycle route bridge in Crewgreen, near Llanymynech.

Earlier, trains were delayed because of floods between Shrewsbury and Gobowen.

The Met Office is expecting rain until around midday on Friday.
