As Llandrindod Wells celebrated its ‘Wellness Day’ on Friday, June 7, a new water bottle refill scheme was also launched.

Refill Llandrindod is on a mission to make refilling your water bottle as easy, convenient and cheap as possible, by introducing ‘refill stations’ throughout the town.

Refill is an award winning campaign launched by not-for-profit organisation City to Sea in 2015, to reduce plastic waste by making it easier to reuse and refill your water bottle on the go.

Supported by the Welsh Government, Wales is aiming to become the world’s first ‘Refill Nation’ by having ‘refill stations’ across the country. To find your nearest refill station download the free location based app, or keep an eye out for the refill window stickers which indicate where you are welcome to pop in for a free tap water refill.

A spokesperson for Refill Llandrindod said: “Some 7.7 billion plastic bottles are bought across the UK each year, resulting in substantial amounts of single-use plastic waste ending up in our oceans. To celebrate Llandrindod Wellness day we’d like to show how we live well by doing our bit to help reduce our use of single use plastic and encourage everyone to download the Refill app ahead of National Refill Day on June 19.
