A NEWTOWN charity shop is going to be putting on a special window display of glamorous dresses and ball gowns in time for the town’s carnival on Saturday, June 8.

The outfits will go on show at the Salvation Army’s charity shop and prayer space on 7 Market Street.

They are all for sale and have been donated by members of the public to the shop over the 10 years it has been open.

“We have been stunned by some of the very glamorous outfits we have received over the last 10 years and wanted to showcase these special items during the Newtown Carnival,” said Samantha Jones of The Salvation Army in Newtown.

“A small part of us just wanted to swish around in these beautiful gowns but we’ve decided to put them on display in the shop window to celebrate the town carnival and anyone who wants to buy one is welcome to call in and try one on.

“And when you buy one of these dresses, you can do so in the knowledge that all income we raise from the charity shop and prayer space is used to support the services The Salvation Army provides for the people of Newtown, such as the foodbank,” added Samantha.
