This Friday, Llandrindod Wells is changing its name for one day only: to Llandrindod Wellness.

The day will be full of activities to celebrate the community-driven project designed to celebrate the best of the town.

"We’ll be changing the name of our town for the day to Llandrindod Wellness to promote that here, we really do live well," said Project Officer Jude Boutle.

"As with many small towns across the world, there is an underlying, often unchallenged assumption, that there is not much going on but if you scratch the surface here in Llandrindod Wells you will find a diverse, kind, spirited, creative and ambitious community who inherently understand that this is one of the most extraordinary places to call home in the United Kingdom," she said.

Llandrindod Wells Business Group has over the past four years been working on the project to drive and create a "unifying force" in creating a bright future for Llandrindod Wells.

Jude said: "We wanted to find something that connected with as many people as possible, from shop keepers and business owners to residents. We believe Wellness does this as it celebrates everything that is going on in our local town, everything that it means to us, to visitors and to people looking to build a life and business here in the heart of the Welsh countryside.

"Simply, it celebrates why we choose to live and work in this community..

"Our message is 'We live well', which means celebrating health, opportunity, achievement, play, rest, friendships, community, exercise, our wonderful outdoors, food and producers and maybe even a little bit of indulgence."

"Wellness tourism is worth $563bn annually and is the fastest growing tourism sector globally. We want Llandrindod Wells to benefit from that growth by giving people a reason to stop here," Jude said.
