About 30 pupils from years three and four in Hebog Class, at Rhayader Church in Wales Primary School, ran a sponsored double marathon to raise money for the charity Shelter Box.
This follows the young people studying disasters around the world during the term and their wish to do something practical to raise about £600 to purchase a Shelter Box to donate in the case of an emergency.
Pupils ran a number of laps around the school grounds on Friday, May 24, and were started by the head teacher Linda Crockett, while children from years 5 and 6 acted as stewards to help and many others waved flags and shouted encouragement.
The two overall first place winners were Ryan Smout and Kelsey Harley. Members of staff also joined in the event and ran the double marathon course.
The event was organised by the pupils themselves led by their teacher Sian Protheroe. A number of parents also turned up to cheer them on.
