The grand total from 'Pink Week', where three Powys towns 'Turned Pink' for Cancer Research UK, has been announced, and it's a "huge" £28,000.

Jayne Griffiths, the community champion of Tesco in Llandrindod Wells, who first came up with the idea, said: "Thank you to everyone who donated time and money to Turning Three Towns Pink! I can now finally amount that we raised a huge £28,060.76

"I'd like to take this moment to express how grateful I am to everyone who has made this challenge achievable. I would not have managed without the ladies from Co-op, Glen and Carolyne, as well as all of the local businesses."

The impressive amount of money was raised in just one week, when Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells and Rhayader were decked out in 1,500 pink ribbons, and people of all ages took part in dozens of events to raise money for the charity.

It was an ambitious task, but with 130 different businesses, schools and clubs involved, the three towns came together as one to raise a huge amount for charity.

Jayne said: "It's been absolutely fantastic. It's pulled the three towns together.

"It's been unbelievable," she said.

"I'm just a bit shell shocked. I can't believe how generous people have been," she said.
