AN ARMY cadet from Llanidloes is set to embark on an unforgettable experience as she prepares for an expedition to Africa.

Sally Merton, from Llanidloes ACF Detachment, is one of only two to have been chosen to represent Wales on the expedition to Kenya this Summer.

She will be volunteering at a community project and play in the Army Cadet Force’s football team. Members of Llanidloes Royal British Legion Women’s Section, Janet Hipgrave, Trudy Davies and Viv Williams, said it was a “pleasure” to visit the Cadets at the Drill Hall to congratulate Sally for being chosen and to wish her well on the trip.

Janet, Llanidloes Royal British Legion Women’s Section chairman, presented Sally with a donation towards her expedition.

Janet said: “We are so lucky to have many very talented youngsters in the town and we look forward to hearing about her trip later on in the year”.

The Llanidloes Royal British Legion Women’s Section meets at The Red Lion Hotel on the first Wednesday of every month at noon.

Llanidloes ACF Detachment meet every Thursday evening at the Drill Hall.
