Builth Wells’ first ever food festival was such a success that many stalls had sold out by midday.

More than 500 people filled the Strand Hall within the first two hours of the festival opening and organisers say they were “utterly overwhelmed” with the positive response to the inaugural event.

An apology to people who intended on visiting the festival in the afternoon was issued on social media after they decided to finish the event earlier than planned.

“Oh my goodness what can we say but a huge thank you to everyone who came along to Builth Wells Food Festival today,” one of the organisers said.

“We are utterly overwhelmed with the positive response with well over 500 people coming through the doors in just the first two hours alone.

“Apologises to anyone who came along later in the day as even though we were hoping to run until 4pm many of the stalls had completely sold out of everything they’d brought by midday, so sorry if you missed out on all the lovely things on offer.”

They added: “A huge thank you also to Shaun Bailey and Vicki Workman for the fantastic food and flower demonstrations they both gave on the main stage.”
