Chris Davies MP welcomed the Defence Minister to Brecon Barracks to continue his campaign to fight the proposed closure.
Mr Davies invited Defence and Veterans Minister Tobias Ellwood MP to Brecon to visit the Infantry Battle School and the Brecon Barracks as The Battle School is currently planning expansion and the Barracks is facing proposed closure.
Mr Ellwood trained as an Army Officer at the Infantry Battle School and said he understood the importance of the Military training provided in Brecon and Radnorshire for soldiers across the world.
Chris Davies MP said: “It was brilliant to welcome Defence and Veterans Minister Tobias Ellwood MP to Brecon Barracks and the Infantry Battle School at Dering Lines.
"I asked the Minister to visit our top class military training facilities recently as they are so important to Brecon and Radnorshire.
"It is the first time the Minister has visited since training here as a serving officer and the first time he had visited the Barracks.
"He understands how important the Barracks is to Brecon as the HQ for 160 Brigade. This is all part of my long running campaign against the proposed closure of our historic Barracks.
"This visit will soon be followed up by a visit from the Welsh Affairs Committee where I will be pushing the case for our Barracks to remain open”.
