STILL best loved for playing the French cafe waitress Yvette in the long running British comedy TV series ‘Allo Allo', Vicki Michelle will be on stage at The Hafren, Newtown, next Thursday night May 9, in a witty, topical, rude and extremely funny play 'Hormonal Housewives'.

With Josephine Partridge and Julie Coombe, who co-wrote the show with John MacIsaac, 'Hormonal Housewives' leaves no taboos or thoughts too private, as the challenges of modern womanhood are sliced, diced and put to rights by this vivacious cast.

Women’s bits, weight gain, weight loss, mood swings, housework, homework, electrolysis, men, sex, working out, staying in, going out, celebrity gossip, a lot of chocolate…they’re all in there.

Vicki, who has also been a regular cast member of 'Emmerdale' and 'Doctors' and with film roles include alongside Ray Winstone and Idris Elba in 'All In The Game', and theatrical roles have included her West End debut with Dudley Moore in 'Play It Again Sam', and playing Marilyn Monroe in 'Hello Norma Jean'.

She was awarded an MBE in 2010 for her extensive services to charity.

“It’s so great to be in a script that you know is funny and that the audience is going to love,” said Vicki.

“The waxing scene is going to be hysterical. Julie and I try to encourage Josephine to get back on the dating scene; she’s newly divorced and a bit hesitant. There’s a whole discussion about how much excess hair to wax. I don’t want to give too much away but I get to play the waxer.

“Hopefully we’re going to have a laugh onstage, the audience are going to have a laugh and we’ll still be laughing when we have a glass of wine together after the show.

“I’ve got lots of friends all over the country and although it’s a tight schedule we’re going to fit in seeing friends too. I’m also really looking forward to working lovely Julie and Josephine."

'Hormonal Housewives' debuted in 2012 and toured again in 2013.

For this new tour Julie and John have updated the script to reflect the latest developments in communication, social media, going to the gym and even hair.

Julie Coombe is a writer, actor, comedian and has appeared in everything from Shakespeare to pantomime. Her performance in Eve Ensler’s 'The Vagina Monologues' led to the creation of 'Hormonal Housewives' with producer Michael Harrison and her co-writing husband, John MacIsaac. Julie’s TV credits include BBC TV’s 'River City'.

Completing the cast is Josephine Partridge who met her future husband in 2005, moved to Wales, raised a family and ran drama classes for young children.

In 2017 she decided to return to the stage and landed the leading role of Marlene in Caryl Churchill’s classic 1982 play 'Top Girls' which had a successful run in Cardiff, and recently she performed a piece she’d written for the London-based theatre company Bee In My Beanie.

The play is directed by David Janson who has directed numerous pantomimes, plays and children’s theatre productions since starting his career as an actor at the age of nine appearing in the West End production of 'Oliver!' and the Beatles’ film 'A Hard Day’s Night'.

He played Herr Flick in the last series of '‘Allo ‘Allo' and Michael the postman in 'Keeping Up Appearances'.

Tickets for Thursday’s Newtown show are £24 from the box office on 01686 614555. The tour also includes The Courtyard theatre at Hereford on Thursday, June 4.
