PRESTEIGNE Connect is delighted to announce that this year’s Presteigne Food and Flower Festival will take place on bank holiday Monday, May 6.

The festival will run from 10am to 4pm with free entry, plenty of parking and entertainments, demonstrations and workshops for all ages.

This is the second Food and Flower Festival organised by Connect - The Presteigne Area Business Network.

The sun shone on streets lined with stalls at last year’s first event with buskers filling the town with music, hot meals available all day in the food court, and families enjoyed a rolling programme of entertainments.

Garden owners in and around town threw open their gates to visitors, raising nearly £2,000 in donations for St Michael’s Hospice.

“We are hoping for another sunny and successful day this year, so please come and join us for a wonderful outing that will be as fun for children as it is for adults,” said a spokesman.

“You can relax with tea and cakes in the lovely garden of the Old Rectory, while the kids enjoy a treasure hunt, face painting and Playdoh jewellery making, or try their skill at welly-wanging and sack races. Elsewhere there will be Forest School activities, a workshop for making beautiful floral crowns, opportunities to Meet the Pollinators, and a foraging walk for families.

“The beautiful streets of Presteigne will be lined with another exciting mix of stalls this year, showcasing the wide variety of food and drink producers in our area.

“Among them will be artisan bakers and cheese makers, gourmet cake and chocolate producers, coffee roasters, speciality tea factors, distilleries and breweries. Get ready for a gastronomic adventure as you wander from stall to stall, tasting before you buy,” he said.

Once again, there will be an eclectic mix of activities, demonstrations and entertainments for the whole family. A chocolate-making demonstration and tempting recipes to make with locally brewed beer are included in the inspiring festival programme.

Hot food will be available all day in the food court close to St Andrew’s Church, where you will be welcome to picnic on the grass and enjoy music from local buskers and choirs. Polish Pierogi, sausages and burgers made from local organic mutton and lamb, pizzas from a wood fired oven, Indian, vegetarian and vegan food will all be on offer.

“All we need now is the same glorious weather as last year! Please watch our website and Facebook page for news and updates: https://www.presteigneconnect.co.uk,” say the organisers.
