Dig out your mullet wig and leg warmers as Llanfair Caereinion Carnival is going ‘Back to the 1980s’.
Committee members have now revealed the theme and the search for Llanfair Caereinion's carnival royalty is about to begin.
People who want to take part in this year's extravaganza are asked to keep Saturday, June 15, free in their diaries.
Organisers say they are “delighted” that a tradition that has lasted since the 1930s will continue. Thanks to the continued support from the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, the Carnival Queen will arrive in Llanfair Caereinion by carriage.

The procession will leave the station and will make its way through the streets of Llanfair Caereinion alongside wonderful fancy dress competitors.
Chair of Llanfair Caereinion Carnival, Nikki Peate, said: “It is going to be really exciting this year as we go back to the decade of standout fashion, classic TV programmes, amazing films and some great pop music."
She added: “It will be fascinating to see what ideas people use to decorate their floats. It is always difficult to judge as the standard is always fantastic, but I think it will be harder this year”.
