On Saturday, Lily, 108, was the centre of attention at the Llys Hafren residential home, as she opened a new outdoor seating area in the garden.
Lily only moved to Welshpool two months ago; but in doing so she is believed to have become the oldest person in not just her new home, but in the whole of Wales.
She's very proud of her age, telling people that she was born on June 2, 1910; that she's not just 108, she'll be 109 in two months time.
Lily took the opening in her stride, waving to the crowd and declaring the seating area officially open.
"It's such a nice day and the people here will make it such a success," she said.
Lily made the 85 mile journey to Welshpool from her home in Davyhulme, Manchester, so she that could be near to her relatives in Newtown.
"I think they are proud of me opening this," she said.
Around 30 friends and relatives arrived at Llys Hafren for the opening of the covered seating area, something much anticipated after the home's manager, Bea Wickstead, raised over £2000 to fund it after scaling Snowdon at night.
"It's lovely, it's really lovely. It's just what we wanted: to bring them out into the fresh air more," she said.
The covered outdoor seating area, named the 'The Bea Hive' after Bea, will allow residents to be outside for more of the year and take shelter from the sun if they need to.
"It's much needed. They have been looking forward to it," she said.
