CLASSIC car enthusiasts gathered to showcase their vehicles at an event in Whittington.

Around 110 vehicles signed up for the April Fools' Classic Car Show at Whittington Castle on Sunday (April 7).

Organiser Richard Banks said he expected the total to rise to around 130 with vehicle turning up on the day.

The show attracts owners from across Shropshire and further afield.

"It's not a particular classic car club [that displays vehicles], I run the show on the basis that occasionally I just see all sorts of wild and interesting vehicles round and about, and I tend to stop them in my car, give them a card and invite them along.

"It's people from all sorts of clubs, all sorts of vehicles – anything that's interesting or rare, we have it along."

Visitors could savour a host of vehicles, from rally cars to Second World War motorcycles.

The show is in its second year at the castle after previously being located at Canal Central in Maesbury Marsh.

"It's called the April Fools' Show because we first held it on April 1 and it was snowing, and it was a bit of a joke to see how many people would come out," Mr Banks said.

"We actually got about 30 people, so I thought we're going to do this every year – and what it does is it gets people out earlier than they tend to get their classics out on the road."

Parking fees are donated to the Whittington Castle Trust.
