The 'Save Welshpool Library and Museum' group is now over halfway in reaching its fundraising target. However, Welshpool Town Council narrowly decided against giving a grant to the campaign group at a meeting last Wednesday, which would have set them well on their way in taking legal action.
The grant of £600 would have gone towards initial solicitor's costs to start as judicial review process.
Concerns were raised at the full meeting and a vote was taken, with seven against, six in favour and one abstention.
The online fundraiser campaign now has raised over £600, and has a target of £1000.
