“Leave the little ones alone and have a go at the big ones for a change,” is the Mayor of Llanidloes’ message to Powys County Council after it was announced that the town’s library has been saved until early 2020.
Cllr Janet Crisp said it was “lovely” to see that the library has a “year’s grace” and that the county council had “quite a shake up” at a public meeting to discuss the library’s future. County Councillor Gareth Morgan praised the community for their “brilliant” turnout on February 8.
“I think we can’t do nothing then suddenly find it’s under threat again. They’re not promising to keep it open any longer,” Cllr Morgan said.
“I would like to thank former mayor Phyl Davies for all the efforts and commitment that he put into saving the library; it wasn’t easy, but we achieved it and we’ve got to try and continue to do it.”
