The former deputy mayor of Welshpool is under investigation for 'hate' incidents after she resigned for sharing Islamophobic posts on social media.
On Monday, March 18, Welshpool Town Councillor announced that Heather Chave had resigned as both deputy mayor and a councillor, and that her seat would be declared vacant.
Ms Chave previously apologised for sharing sharing "offensive" posts on Facebook after the town council released a statement saying that it did not condone posts of a "racialist nature".
A spokesperson from the police said: “Dyfed-Powys Police has received two complaints in relation to this. It is being treated as a hate incident and the investigation in ongoing.”
