A new telephone number for adults who require support or advice about social care will go live today, March 25, Powys County Council say.

Adults in Powys will be able to contact the council by calling ASSIST on 0345 602 7050.

The ASSIST team provide information and advice on a wide range of support for people in Powys who are aged 18 or over.

The council say residents will be able to access information for older people services, sensory impairment, learning or physical disability, and wellbeing, as well as adult safeguarding. In addition, information and connection can be provided to a third sector broker/Community Connector for voluntary sector services.

Councillor Stephen Hayes, Cabinet Member for Adult Social care said: “We’ve brought together professional advice and guidance around wellbeing and social care work into one place.

“When calling ASSIST, you will speak to an experienced contact officer who will take details of your enquiry and provide access to the right support that will assist you without delay. If required, the ASSIST team will be able to quickly divert your call to the person best able to help you.

“Providing adults in Powys with the right information in one place will enable a fast and responsive service to the right advice at the right time.”

If you think that you may need help from the social services, contact ASSIST on 0345 602 7050 for advice, a social care assessment or any safeguarding incident by speaking to a contact officer directly, or, by secure email in the language of your choice.
