Fraudsters are persuading elderly people in South Powys to withdraw large sums of cash by pretending to be police officers.
Dyfed Powys Police is currently dealing with a number of these attempted frauds, where the fraudsters are phoning up claiming to be police officers from a Fraud Unit.
They are then persuading them to withdraw large sums of cash from the bank before arranging for its collection from their home addresses.
A spokesperson from Dyfed Powys Police said: "Don’t engage with these calls – hang up immediately, and tell anyone who might be vulnerable to scammers to do the same.
"Do not disclose your location or bank details. Be aware that fraudsters often keep the telephone line open for a period of time after the call has been terminated.
"Contact Dyfed-Powys Police on 101 from a different telephone."
Dyfed-Powys Police has arrested three suspects who are in custody currently, and the investigation continues.
