A librarian is calling on the community to help increase the library’s opening hours by becoming volunteers.

Llanfair Caereinion librarian Meg Ringrose says there is a demand for the library to open an extra day. The library is currently open up to three hours a day, four-days-a-week on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

“It’s a lovely little library.

“We are trying to extend what we do,” Meg said.

“What we do need is more volunteers. If we had more volunteers we could open, say on a Monday afternoon.”

She added: “If we had more volunteers, we would need enough for it to be open regularly.”

Llanfair Caereinion Library, which is situated in the heart of the town at The Institute, not only offers books but digital resources such as a computer suite and free wi-fi. Meg says that residents have approached her asking whether the library can open longer in order to access the internet.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer or would like more information about how they can help, can contact Meg by phoning 01938 811028, e-mail llanfair.library@powys.gov.uk, or visit the library at The Institute.
