A WELSH multi instrumentalist who has gone from punk and grunge to the American primitive guitar genre, appears at the SpArC theatre at Bishops Castle this Sunday, March 24.
Gwenifer Raymond made the musical change after listening to pre-war blues musicians, as well as Appalachian folk players.
She has since been playing her own moody and often-times manic original American primitive styled compositions on both guitar and banjo.
Gwenifer began playing guitar at the age of eight and sent years playing around the Welsh Valleys in various punk outfits before eventually becoming interested in the new school of American Primitivism to which she adds a Welsh and Celtic style.
She will be supported on Sunday by Alulu Down, an experiment in folk song and minimalism, with voice and with instruments made of wood and reeds.
Darkly beautiful and mesmerising, they are part of the thriving 'Weirdshire' community of active 'brethren' of musicians and artists in Herefordshire.
Tickets for Sunday’s show are priced at £10 and £5 and are available from the box office on 01588 630321/638038 or visit www.sparctheatre.co.uk
