Dyfed Powys Police say they are "reviewing" body worn footage to see if further action is required, after a confrontation between two sets of visiting football fans threatened to spill over on Saturday, March 16.

Extra police were called out to Newtown's Latham Park as the Mid-Wales venue hosted both semi-finals in the FA Wales Trophy on the same day, with the games attracting "larger than expected" crowds.

Police say they were contacted early on by Newtown AFC during the first fixture between Cefn Mawr-based Cefn Albion and Cardiff based STM Sports, and remained on site for the rest of the afternoon.

A statement from Police said: "Additional police resources were required to attend Newtown Football Club on Saturday March 16.

"The matches attracted larger than anticipated crowds and the club called police for additional support early on.

"There was some confrontation between supporters later on but police quickly gained control and provided a high visibility presence for the remainder of the event.

"Body worn footage captured by officers is being reviewed to see if any further police action is required."
