EXTENSIVE repairs and improvements to a footbridge in mid Powys have been carried out, the county council has said.

Powys County Council’s countryside services has overseen repairs to the footbridge over the Clywedog Brook, between Crossgates and Abbeycwmhir.

Local contractor Mervyn Price Plant Hire carried out extensive repairs which saw all the metal handrails and timber decking replaced. New anti-slip strips were also installed on the bridge structure.

Cllr Aled Davies, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Countryside Services, said: “These improvement works were needed as the old footbridge’s metal handrails were rotting and bowing while the timber decking was starting to rot. We hope that the repaired bridge will have many more years of use for the public to access local public rights of way.”
