LLANIDLOES Cadets have been praised for their “enthusiasm and unwavering support” by the town’s Poppy Appeal organisers.

The Army Cadet Force (ACF) was presented with a Certification of Appreciation by the Llanidloes branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) Women’s Section President Pat Thomas for their long-standing and continuing contribution.

President Pat Thomas said it was “always so nice” to get together with both young and older residents of Llanidloes.

Viv Williams, secretary, said: “Without the help of you youngsters and leaders every year, The Poppy Appeal in Llanidloes would be very much reduced and our ladies appreciate it so much. Come rain or shine, you turn out smart on our streets to collect for the appeal and for this we thank you all.”

Standard Bearer Trudy Davies thanked Sergeant Major Instructor for Gwent and Powys ACF Jason Walters and said that the town is very grateful for the many years he has acted as Parade Marshall on Remembrance Day: “I know how much preparation goes into this task and what a big part you play in the parade. It is the nature of your professionalism that many people don’t even see you but hear your commands, this made the parade from start to finish run smoothly and respectfully.”

The cadets meet on Thursdays at the Drill Hall from 7pm to 9pm. The RBL Ladies meet on the first Wednesday of the month in The Red Lion.
