THE Australian soap star who made it to the top of the pop charts and is one of our biggest musical theatre attractions, comes to Newtown’s Hafren theatre next Thursday night, March 14, in an intimate show of music and showbiz stories.

The Newtown date is part of the final leg of his autobiographical show ‘Jason and his Amazing Midlife Crisis’, an 'in conversation’ style show filled with stories, laughter and music spanning Jason’s amazing career.

From 'Neighbours' to 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' to appearances on 'I’m A Celebrity' and 'Strictly Come Dancing' Jason has consistently captured the hearts of his adopted country and entertained us all along the way.

Jason has also had leading roles in the musicals 'Sweeney Todd', 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', 'The Rocky Horror Show' and 'Priscilla Queen of the Desert', 'The Sound of Music' and 'Annie Get Your Gun', as well as touring the UK in the highly acclaimed play 'The King’s Speech'.

Jason re-started his tour after a series of arena shows with 'Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds' celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original album based on H.G. Wells’ dark Victorian novel about a Martian invasion.

Jason starred as Parson Nathaniel alongside Adam Garcia, Newton Fletcher and Carrie Hope-Fletcher who said: “Working with Jason Donovan is a dream, just one of the nicest, most bonkers people to work with. There’s never a dull moment with Jason around.”

It was Jason’s fourth time in the sci-fi stage spectacular and is a complete contrast to his 'Midlife Crisis' tour with Donovan’s self-effacing, mercurial story telling that will shatter your illusions of the ‘teen heart throb’ in a witty and entertaining show.

Jason’s relentless enthusiasm and a refreshingly blunt compulsion towards honesty will reveal all about his rollercoaster life. The show will be a rare chance to get up close and personal with the star with an opportunity for the audience to ask questions. Jason will also perform a couple of stripped back acoustic versions of his classic hits.

Join Jason in conversation as he shares moments from the last four decades that he wasn’t able to tell us about on daytime television! Jason has many guises – star of stage and screen, radio DJ, actor, performer, friend, father, husband, brother, son and confirmed National Treasure. Here he tells us about the highlights and challenges, the opportunities and obstacles of being all of those things.

“When I first embarked upon this tour, I did not expect to get such an amazing response! If I’m honest I didn’t think anyone would be interested in my life story. But it’s so humbling to be selling out theatres across the country. My fans are the best," said Jason.

“In the past I’ve either been too young, too busy or too dazed and confused to be able to make sense my life. But now, on the eve of my 50th birthday - and older and wiser, if a little more weathered - I believe that I am finally in a position to put my life into perspective. I’m in a great place, surrounded by good people and don’t feel like I need to prove myself any more.”
