THE new gym and studio at Knighton Sports Centre was officially opened on Wednesday afternoon.

The £100,000 refurbishment project, a joint partnership between Powys County Council, Freedom Leisure and Radnor Hills Water, has been done to improve the offering for residents of Knighton, and is a demonstration of the commitment of Powys County Council and its partners to an active healthy community.

The modern, state-of-the-art, 35-station gym features newer kit, including items that weren’t previously available in Knighton – to make it appealing to a wider audience, form novices to the more advance.

The official opening was attended by representatives from Powys County Council, Freedom Leisure and Radnor Hills Water.

Lynette Wozencraft, Freedom Leisure operations manager, said: “This refurbishment has made this important local, community facility even better by extending the offering and making it more accessible to a wider portion of the community.

“It is a fun, friendly and welcoming environment for local residents to keep active, and is now also able to support the already successful GP Referral Scheme delivered by Freedom Leisure at the centre to support even more people to get back to full health.”
