Money raised by pupils from a cake stall that they had arranged has bought a new life-saving training kit for the St John’s Ambulance.

Llanidloes CP School fundraised through baking cakes to show their appreciation to Annette Macken, from the St John’s Ambulance, for running first aid sessions with the pupils in September.

In her role as regional training officer with Wales’ leading first aid charity, Annette taught pupils from Years 1 to Year 6 basic first aid skills as part of the ‘Save a Life September’ campaign.

Pupils raised £100 from the cake stall and bought a child-sized training choking vest for the charity with the proceeds.

A choking vest is a rescue trainer that can be worn as a vest to practice both back blows and abdominal thrusts.

Llanidloes CP School headteacher Elen Chennetier said as “a thank you, the school council raised money to buy a much-needed child-sized choking training vest for St John’s Ambulance”.
