Llanidloes Town FC has revealed plans to build a new spectator stand at Victoria Park.

An application was submitted to Powys County Council’s planning department seeking permission to build steel frame spectator stand on a 70 square metre area next to The Main Stand.

The club has announced plans to increase the ground’s capacity from 4,000.

They would like to build at their ground on Victoria Avenue a green stand made of painted blocks and profile sheeting with steel hooped barriers.

Kevin Brown, chairman of the club, says that renovations are needed to improve the grounds.

He said: “We’ve done substantial work so far which we were lucky to get grants for.

“This new stand is for the bulk of supporters to help cover and protect them from the elements.”

Llanidloes Town Council discussed the football club’s planning application at their meeting on Monday, January 28.

Councillors unanimously agreed to support the application saying that Llanidloes Town FC is a “major asset to the town” and any improvements to the grounds “will benefit spectators”.

The plans will be considered by Powys County Council’s planning department.
