The man accused of killing Welshpool holidaymaker in a suspected hit-and-run incident in Cyprus has had a murder charge downgraded to manslaughter, Cypriot courts have confirmed.
Dimitrios Ilitzidis will go on trial in March accused of killing Robert Birch, better known to friends as Charlie, who was struck by a car as he walked along a road near Paphos with a 32-year-old man at about 2.30am on June 24 2018.
Mr Birch died at the scene.
An official at Paphos District Court confirmed suspect Dimitrios Ilitzidis had a murder charge downgraded to manslaughter.
He entered a not-guilty plea in court on Tuesday, the official said.
Ilitzidis is due to go on trial from March 12.
