OWNERS of an Oswestry dental practice have refused to rule out the surgery closing for good in future.

A concerned resident came to the Advertizer to say they had been told the My Dentist practice in Willow Street was closing by staff, and would be shut by mid-April.

But Sarah Learoyd, who represents My Dentist, said the practice is expected to remain open while the Manchester-based company take stock of its options.

She said: “Like many other dental practices in the area we face the challenge of increased running costs preventing us from operating sustainably and difficulty in recruiting dentists.

“Because of this, we are considering a number of options for the practice, one of which being its potential closure.

“The practice is operating as normal and we will keep all patients updated of any changes.”

The concerned resident told Advertizer they discovered the potential news because they had not contacted him to arrange a check-up, while the surgery is not welcoming new patients.

He added: “The staff there said to me to register with other dentists.

“It’s disappointing that we have to find out this way.

“Apparently the staff were informed last week so it’s only just coming out.

“According to what I was told, they have lost funding.

“They seem to have been impacted on by the fall out of of Brexit as some dentists are from Europe.

“It’s an absolute shambles.

“Apparently all of us will be getting told in the next 10 days.

“But it feels like we’re being left to find our own new dentists.”
