A range of jobs are up for grabs at a special recruitment day taking place in Bishops Castle this month.

Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust(SCHT) say there are vacancies for Staff Nurses, a Ward Sister/Charge Nurse, Healthcare Assistants and Physiotherapists being showcased during the event at Bishop’s Castle Community Hospital on Tuesday, January 29, set to run between 9am and 5pm.

The hospital offers a 16-bedded, Nurse-Led unit where patients can be admitted for rehabilitation, when they are too well to be in an acute hospital but not well enough to be at home looking after themselves.

It has a garden room extension and palliative care suite that SCHT say has received local, regional and even national recognition.

Ward Manager Leeanne Morgan, who joined the team in October last year, said it was a great opportunity to work in a “modern, bright and spacious” hospital.

"I had heard of the hospital when I first came to visit, I didn’t know too much about it," she said.

"But what I did know is that the community are very passionate and protective of it - that intrigued me and made me want to find out more.

"When I first stepped through the door I was surprised, I had an image in my mind of Community Hospitals being quite old fashioned but Bishops Castle is modern, bright and spacious.”

“They may come to us for a short stay while they have some therapy and improve their mobility,” added Leeanne. “They may require further assistance and support at home, so we work collaboratively with patients and families to consider what care packages/equipment they will need at home. So when they return home, everything has been done to ensure they can remain there, for as long as possible. Or to consider, alternative places of care.

"Since starting in my role, I have been so impressed by the high standards of care, our patients and their families receive. We are a very close-knit team and really support each other and this has an impact on what we are able to achieve on the ward.”

“I would really like people to use the recruitment day as an opportunity to try the commute and see just how much we have to offer.”
