Two cars were stolen from residential addresses in Prestatyn and Abergele.

North Wales Police are searching for a VW Golf which was stolen from Plas Avenue, Prestatyn, on Friday, and a Blue Ford Focus which was reported stolen from Maes y Ffynon, Abergele.

Anyone that has seen vehicles matching the description given they are asked to contact police on 101 using reference numbers X007835 (VW Gulf) or 19100018018 (Ford Focus).

Police posed on social media yesterday telling motorists how to keep their cars and the keys to their vehicles safe.

North Wales Police, on Twitter, said: "Car key burglary is fairly rare but it's sill important to keep your vehicle safe.

"High value sports cars, vans and luxury/prestige models are often stolen to order, or be used in other crimes.

"Criminals may cruise locations looking for suitable targets and follow them back to their overnight address."

The post also outlined a number of ways to try and prevent car and vehicle key theft, which included using steering locks, installing home security measures, putting physical barriers around your vehicle and make sure you physically check your locked before leaving it.
