A TOUCHING tale based on a beloved children’s book is the latest cinematic showing in a film society’s latest season.

Ffilm Llanfyllin continues its programme of screenings at the New Old Inn with Christopher Robin (PG), showing on Friday, January 18.

Ewan McGregor stars as an adult version of Winnie the Pooh’s pal, jaded after serving in the Second World War and under pressure to make big cuts at the factory where he works – all of which threatens to distance him from his wife Evelyn (Hayley Atwell) and children.

But events take a magical turn when Christopher’s friends from the Hundred Acre Wood enter his life once again.

Christopher Robin also stars Peter Capaldi, Toby Jones, Mark Gatiss and Sophie Okonedo.

Llanfyllin Film is run by a small organising committee and helpers, all volunteers, as a part of Arts Connection.

Other forthcoming movies include Hearts Beat Loud (January 25), Lucky (February 1), The Captain (February 8), Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's musical romance A Star is Born (February 15) and Debra Granik's heart-rending Leave No Trace (February 22).

Films start at 8pm – doors open 7.30) – and tickets available at the door only.
