A community nest box project at a woodland has been given the go-ahead by Llanidloes Town Council.
Allt Goch Nest Box Project intends to encourage the residents and visitors to learn more about bird life in the town and the surrounding area.
Schools and clubs are being encouraged to help make the bird nest boxes which will then be installed in the woodland on the outskirts of Llanidloes.
Trained volunteers will then monitor the boxes for the British Trust of Ornithology (BTO). The nestlings will be ringed under licence with the BTO to add to its scientific data collection.
Project co-ordinator Ceri Jones said councillors have agreed to contribute to the cost following an "excellent" meeting with the town council on Thursday, January 10.
“I am hoping to get schools/clubs involved with making nest boxes to be installed in the woods, and I am also looking for volunteers to train as nest box monitors and recorders.”
An open event will be taking place on Monday, January 14, at 7pm in The Old Mill’s Gallery Room, or join ‘Allt Goch Nest Box Project’ on Facebook if you are interested in the project.
