KNIGHTON’S town Advent calendar produced some eye-catching displays as shops and businesses took it in turn to illuminated a different window display for each of the 24 days of December leading up to Christmas Day.

“JD’S Cafe played on the closure of the Knighton Hotel with Mary and Joseph standing outside as there was no room at the inn, made even more impressive with their hotel model with its stable nest door lit up at night,” said Baptist Minister Kevin Dare who led the organisers of Knighton Churches Together and Knighton Tourism Group

“Rhos Market garden displayed a fitting ‘green’ star above their vegetables on Day 14, and next door at, the newly opened Restorella, selling furniture repairs and home decor, created a charming display of the three wise men pointing to the star and creche on the next window.

“NFU Mutual’s window was a delightful angel and tree decorated with angels, Snips hairdresser also hung a draped fabric angel to fill a window.

“Prices decorated their entire display window with life sized models of Mary and Joseph in his carpentry workshop, complete with saws, wood shavings and infant.

“Sandra’s Sewing formed an ingenious ‘Light of the World’ by folding gleaming white fabric,” said Mr Dare.

The calendar was completed on Christmas Eve with the Tower House Gallery’s final window display and the carol singing around the town clock when children were also able to complete their collection of 24 stickers, one from each of the businesses.
