A LITTLE bit of Dyfed-Powys Police is winging its way Down Under thanks to a chance encounter in Powys.
PC Dave Jones was stopped in Newtown by ex-pat Steve Jones – a police colleague from the other side of the world.
Mr Jones told the PC he was originally from Carmarthen but now serves as a police officer with the Northern Territory Police in Australia, based in Darwin.
He was at home visiting family, and was on the way to the Liverpool football match when he bumped into the Dyfed-Powys PC.
They chatted about the differences they see in policing, and as a gift Mr Jones gave PC Jones a Northern Territory Police patch.
PC Jones said: “It was a very nice gesture, and he was a good bloke.
“I decided to go back to the station and give him my 50th anniversary pin badge in return.”
