ON THE weekend before Christmas, a hot food van donated all of its profits from its day of trading to the foodbank in Welshpool.

James’s Hot Food Bar was located in the Welshpool Tesco supermarket’s carpark on Saturday, December 22; as it often is.

However, this time, all the profits from the burgers and bacon baps went to the Welshpool and District Foodbank. Free sweets were also given out to children.

Giving to the foodbank was owner James Wallace’s way of giving back to the town.

“I have been in Welshpool for seven years. I wanted to give something back.

“They have been very very good to me, Welshpool have,” he said.

James chose to donate to the foodbank as he says it is a vital lifeline that we could all be in need of at some point in our lives.

He said: “We are all one wage packet away from the food bank. It’s one step away for everybody.

“We need to keep it going. If they don’t keep going a lot of people are going to be in trouble.”

James specifically chose to donate a day’s profits to charity in the run up to Christmas; when people are more giving.

“People are very generous at this time of the year, come January they will be skint,” he said.
