A MID Wales man has admitted assaulting his partner while she was holding a child.
Wayne Daniel Sarson, 36, of Prince of Wales Drive, Oldford, Welshpool, was remanded in custody on Friday (December 28) pending sentence next week.
He appeared from custody at North East Wales Magistrates’ Court at Mold and pleaded guilty to assaulting his partner and damaging her silver necklace following an incident on Boxing Day.
Prosecutor Justin Espie said that the defendant had assaulted her while she was holding a child.
Defending solicitor Stephen Edwards said that his client had made the sensible decision to admit the assault.
The couple had been together five years. There had been arguments in recent times but he had not used violence towards her before.
Sarson was not a man who normally drank.
That day both had been out and had a drink, and he accepted that he was drunk. His recollection was a bit hazy.
There was no probation officer available who could deal with domestic violence cases.
Mr Edwards said that unfortunately he had been unable to secure an alternative address for his client and therefore there would be no bail application.
But he asked that the case be dealt with as soon as possible.
Sarson was remanded in custody to be sentenced at Mold on Wednesday, January 2.
