A large crowd sang their hearts out and raised charity funds at a festive event.

Carols in the Square in Llanfyllin on Christmas Eve raised £326 for the chosen charities of Councillor Simon Baynes, mayor of Llanfyllin.

The funds will go to the Master’s House Appeal/ Sponsor A Slate at the Llanfyllin Y Dolydd Workhouse and Concertina - Music for the Elderly, which provides music in care homes and day centres.

The Reverend Hermione Morris gave a festive message during the event.

Cllr Simon Baynes said: "We are very grateful to Nicky Dixon for leading the singing with her customary warmth and enthusiasm and to Pauline Page-Jones for accompanying the singing so well. Thank you as well to Cllrs Peter Lewis and David Goodman for all their hard work in organising and helping at the event. Last but by no means least, a very big thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed the evening."
