A road closure was in place on Saturday evening between Tregynon and Llanfair Caereinion as Scottish Power dealt with fallen power lines.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Dyfed-Powys Police responded to the incident at around 3pm on Saturday afternoon after power cables had come down and set fire to woodland caused by electrical arcing.
Fire crews from Llanfair Caereinion and Welshpool remained there for around three hours and left the scene by 6pm.
Llanfair Caereinion Fire Station said on Twitter: "Although it looked serious [the fire] was mostly being fuelled by the arcing cable. Once power was cut off it rapidly extinguished.
"Can we also take the opportunity to remind members of the public NOT to approach or drive over fallen cables. We believe at least one car done so prior to our arrival."
The road has now re-opened in both directions.
