A 38 year old woman who had been addicted to heroin for more than 20 years has admitted drug driving.
Helen Evans of Brynteg, Benllech, was banned from driving for a year for having cocaine in her blood when her Ford Focus was stopped by police in the B5109 at Llangefni last August.
Nia Lloyd, prosecuting at a special court at Llandudno on Saturday , said the cocaine count was 44, with the limit being 10 microgrammes per litre of blood.
She said a”crack pipe” and two wraps of heroin had been found in the car. She told police she had used heroin for 21 years. In 2015 she’d received a suspended sentence for being concerned in the supply of drugs.
Alex Fitzgerald, defending, said she had managed to be clean of her condition for two years until last March but had then started to struggle. However she had now been pencilled in for treatment. “She is taking steps to address the problems she had with her addiction,” added Mr Fitzgerald.
In addition to the driving ban magistrates ordered Evans to pay £440 in fines and costs. She had also admitted being on possession of heroin.
