The family of the owner of Kerry Vale Vineyard who died in a car crash near Churchstoke have paid tribute to her saying she was the "heart and soul of our vineyard".

64-year-old June Ferguson - a grandmother of two - died after her Nissan Qashqai was found crashed into a hedge near the Blue Bell Hotel on Tuesday, November 27.

A tribute was posted on the Kerry Vale Vineyard Facebook page on Wednesday, December 12.

It said: "It is with a heavy heart that this week we say goodbye to June, co-founder and the heart of soul of our vineyard.

"Thank you for the love and support we have received from all of our wonderful customers and friends of the vineyard over the last few weeks.

"Your kindness has meant such a lot to us at this difficult time."

Mrs Ferguson ran the business on the Shropshire-Powys border with her husband Geoff, daughter Nadine and son-in-law Dan for almost 10 years.

Many people have taken to social media to pay tribute to the popular businesswoman from Churchstoke.

"A beautiful lady inside and out. So many fond memories of my childhood and beyond spent with you all," Linsey Johnston said.

Laura Vaughan added: "I’m so sorry for your loss, she was such a lovely sweet lady. Sending so much love to you all."

An inquest into Mrs Ferguson's death will take place next year, on March 6 at Shirehall in Shrewsbury.

West Mercia Police is still appealing for witnesses, and anyone with information can call police on 101, quoting 665S of November 27.
